We’re big Tomb Raider fans, having seen the series from it’s creation and release on the PS1, to the recent reboot which has made Lara Croft the ultimate hero in gaming! So when it was announced there would be a remaster of the first three original games from the 90’s, we were incredibly excited.

However, it is largely known that the original games are some of the toughest adventure games of the Playstation era, and even still hold up as immensely challenging to modern standards.

Tomb Raider I to III used tank controls for movement, puzzles were grand, and expansive and required multiple layers of deduction and problem-solving to complete, and each game had something which made them a little bit tougher than Spyro the Dragon!

Tomb Raider II is known for its immense combat encounters, and Tomb Raider III has some of the most challenging set-pieces, including one section where Lara must traverse an underwater maze, in the dark! Plus, there was a limited/manual saving system in both Tomb Raider I and III, via the dread save crystals. Which in Tomb Raider III were rare and difficult to find.

Aspyr, the studio behind the remasters, who have also been involved with previous launches of the older Tomb Raider games, have been hard at work to make sure these classic games are fully accessible and flexible to newcomers and old fans.

Included features for the remastered trilogy include fully 3D sprites, beautiful, remastered graphics, a choice between modern and tank controls, photo mode, HUD additions including Boss health bars, improved lighting effects and new models for Lara.

Below you can see what is included in the package, both games and features:

Tomb Raider I + Unfinished Business expansion
Tomb Raider II + Golden Mask expansion
Tomb Raider III + The Lost Artifact expansion

Baked and real-time lighting effects
Graphics toggle — even in Photo Mode
Brand new character model for Lara Croft
Adjustments to animations, textures, and VFX
New models, environments, and enemies to fit with the newer style
Sprites for items have been replaced by 3D models

We can't wait to play the remaster of all three classic Tomb Raider games on February 14th on Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. You can pre-order now with a 10% discount on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
