The newly released free-to-play football video game, UFL, has surpassed three million users worldwide in just over a month. UFL allows players around the globe to compete against each other with their own custom football clubs, with almost 5000 FIFPRO-licensed players to select from.
Since its official launch on December 5th, the game has captured global attention, attracting players from 225 countries having launched exclusively on current-generation consoles — PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S.
The top 10 countries that played the game in its first month are the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. During this time, players participated in over 15 million matches and scored over 54 million goals in the game.
The newest entry to the football gaming space has drawn excitement from the gaming community, with UFL’s ‘fair to play’ model offering a refreshing change for players.
Commenting on the milestone, Strikerz Inc.’s CEO, Eugene Nashilov, said: "We are thankful to our community for their incredible support since we launched last month. Surpassing three million players in just over a month is a remarkable milestone that fuels our commitment to improving and refining UFL, as we aim to provide a best-in-class football gaming experience.
“Every piece of feedback we receive helps shape the game and drives us to deliver an even more engaging and enjoyable experience. This achievement is just the start, and we’re excited to continue this journey together in 2025.
“We have an exciting year ahead, filled with amazing events and partnerships. We are working to deliver new player versus player (PvP) and player versus environment (PvE) game modes that will be released soon. Coming up is the launch of the second Team Pass —kicking off on February 1st, which will run for two months. Then, in March, the second UFL season begins, featuring PvE modes, Draft Pick, a transfer window update, and much more. We are also continuing to work on the PC version, and its release is just around the corner. Stay tuned for all the action!”
UFL is committed to reshaping the football gaming landscape by prioritising fairness, skill-based competition, and an inclusive community. Over the past month, developers have worked closely with players, implementing updates based on their feedback to ensure the game remains dynamic and engaging.
In the 0.61.1 update made earlier today, improved AI was introduced, the training mode is now enhanced, numerous gameplay and UI fixes have been implemented, and the appearance of over 40 players are refined. The developers aim to make updates more regularly, embracing a community-driven approach as its foundation.
The game has drawn significant attention, with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo as an investor and brand ambassador, supported by a star-studded lineup that includes Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kevin De Bruyne. UFL also boasts partnerships with major brands such as adidas, Joma, Kappa, and Umbro, alongside collaborations with leading football clubs including AS Monaco FC, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, FC Porto, and PSV Eindhoven, ensuring an authentic football experience.
