Still Wakes the Deep, the narrative horror from genre masters The Chinese Room and independent publisher Secret Mode, has been honoured at the BAFTA Games Awards 2025 ceremony with three awards, the second-highest number of wins for a single game at this year’s ceremony. Still Wakes the Deep is available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. It is also available with Game Pass for console and PC. A physical PS5 release is available now from all good retailers.
The game and its developer received the awards for New Intellectual Property, Performer in a Leading Role for Alec Newman, and Performer in a Supporting Role for Karen Dunbar. Still Wakes the Deep is the second game from The Chinese Room to receive a BAFTA Games Award, following the success of 2015’s Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (winner of three).
“Thank you to everyone at The Chinese Room and Secret Mode,” said Alec Newman while accepting the award for Performer in a Leading Role, “your attention to detail is phenomenal, and was an inspiration to me from the moment I first read for Caz McLeary.”
“It was a real labour of love,” said Ed Daly, Studio Head for The Chinese Room, while accepting the award for New Intellectual Property, while Karen Dunbar thanked Scotland and said “I am completely overwhelmed” while receiving the award for Performer in a Supporting Role.
Still Wakes the Deep received eight nominations in total at the BAFTA Games Awards 2025, the joint second-highest number of nominations at the ceremony. It was nominated for:
