DOJO System and Nakama Game Studio have officially unveiled Coloratura, a groundbreaking narrative adventure game where sound serves as the core mechanic, language, and the only possible way forward. Appropriately announced on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the innovative title is designed to be fully played without relying on sight. It is scheduled to launch a public Steam demo on June 15, 2026, ahead of its full release on PC and PlayStation 5 in October 2026.
The story follows Alex, a young woman whose entire relationship with the world is built through sound. As players guide her, every chapter and explored space transforms into an emotional composition shaped by memory, perception, and listening. From its very first line of code, Coloratura has been built around binaural 3D audio, positioning headphones as a strongly recommended requirement to properly navigate direction, distance, and presence. Accessibility is not an additional layer added at the end of production; instead, it is the structural core of the experience itself.
Daniel Sánchez Mateos from DOJO System, the team currently developing the PlayStation 5 version, emphasized that the project is not about a specific condition or made for a single audience. Rather, it asks what happens when sound becomes the primary way we understand our surroundings. He noted that inclusivity is structural to the design, ensuring that the experience remains fundamentally equivalent for every single player. To further back this philosophy, the upcoming PlayStation 5 version will feature full compatibility with the specialized PlayStation Access controller.
Ahead of the public Steam demo next month, the development team will host private presentations with strategic partners, cultural press outlets, and members of the international accessibility community. Additionally, the studio will release a new episode of DOJO Talks this Friday, May 22, dedicated entirely to discussing the project's design philosophy and structural inclusivity. The official Steam page is expected to go live in the coming days following standard Valve approval.
