Indie developer Spiderware has announced that its popular MMORPG, Soulbound, is launching a major playable demo during Steam Next Fest ahead of its official PC release on July 21, 2026. Originally launched as a massive hit for web browsers and Discord, the pixel-art title has already amassed over one million players. The upcoming Steam demo offers more than seven hours of gameplay, giving players a deep dive into the colorful digital realm before next month's full launch.

Soulbound drops players into a vast virtual world where combat, progression, and mystery are tightly intertwined. Players can create custom characters tailored to their specific playstyles, choosing from over a dozen distinct abilities and upgradeable skill trees to build classic tank, healer, or DPS builds. The game features fast-paced, arena-based roguelite dungeons that can be tackled solo or alongside friends by starting a guild to conquer procedural boss encounters and enemy swarms.

The narrative begins as players awaken in a pixelated reality threatened by The Anima—a collection of malevolent entities bent on destruction. Rescued by a friendly robotic companion, players are tasked with fighting back, starting with building a customizable base of operations. This personal home serves as a physical progression hub where players physically upgrade salvaged materials and craft new equipment, evolving alongside the character's journey.

The Steam demo showcases the first few chapters of this mysterious narrative, complete with deep gear-crafting systems, a dedicated housing questline, and an overworld entirely free of hostile mobs. It also introduces the game's seamless three-player cooperative mechanics, allowing squads to team up to extract rare treasures and materials from the deepest dungeon depths. For competitive players, the demo includes in-game and Steam leaderboards to track and compare the fastest dungeon runs.

Following Spiderware's success in winning Discord's "Adventure Together" App Pitch, the team is looking forward to expanding their community onto PC. The Soulbound demo is available to download now on Steam, with the full game launching on July 21.
