Amber Studio and developer Madbricks have officially confirmed that Mexican Ninja, a fast-paced 2.5D roguelike beat 'em up, will launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on 20 August 2026. The upcoming title combines classic arcade brawler action with modern roguelite mechanics and a distinctive aesthetic.

Set in the fictional, stylized metropolis of Nuevo Tokyo, the game's lore centers on a feudal regime formed after Mexico's Narcos and Japan's Yakuza merged to create a new ruling power structure known as the Narkuzas. Players take on the role of the titular Mexican Ninja, joining a rebel faction seeking to overthrow the five leaders of the Narkuza syndicate.

The gameplay revolves around precise, rhythm-driven combat featuring gore-splashed arcade encounters. To navigate the streets of Nuevo Tokyo, players utilize a mix of positioning, timed parries, and specialized combat abilities known as Mexican Jutsus for crowd control. Each playthrough features randomized levels, varied weapon drops, and distinct duel encounters designed to ensure distinct runs.

Character progression relies on a skill tree system referred to as the "Way of the Donkey." As players progress through repeated attempts, they train with El Mero Mero Sensei to unlock new abilities, gain permanent upgrades, and harness powers from Mexican-Japanese spirits. The progression mechanics encourage experimentation with different builds, combination attacks, and cosmetic items.

Creative Director Dario Hoyo described the title as focusing on the experience of overcoming setbacks through refined combat mechanics, emphasizing responsive controls and escalating power dynamics as players master the game's systems.

Mexican Ninja blends 3D character models with 2D combat design, drawing inspiration from retro arcade brawlers while incorporating contemporary roguelite elements. The game will be globally available across PC and current-generation consoles on 20 August 2026, with digital pre-orders and wishlist options now active across supported storefronts ahead of launch.
