Electronic Arts and Hazelight Studios, in partnership with Turn Me Up Games, have announced that It Takes Two will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 15 October 2026.
The announcement was made during today's Nintendo Direct broadcast. Existing owners of the Nintendo Switch version will be eligible for a free digital upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 edition.
Developed by Hazelight Studios and ported in collaboration with Turn Me Up Games, the new release utilizes the increased hardware capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 to deliver enhanced visual fidelity, higher display resolutions, and improved frame rates.
The title will also feature cross-platform compatibility alongside the free Friend’s Pass system, allowing players to invite a partner to play the co-operative campaign at no additional cost, regardless of whether the second player owns the full game. Cross-play functionality will span Nintendo Switch 2, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
"We are very happy to finally bring It Takes Two to even more players on Nintendo Switch 2," said Team Hazelight in a statement accompanying the reveal. "Everyone who owns the game on Nintendo Switch can upgrade for free! Our partners at Turn Me Up Games have done a great job optimizing the game."
Originally released in 2021, It Takes Two won over 90 industry accolades, including Game of the Year at both The Game Awards and the DICE Awards. The narrative follows Cody and May, an estranged couple transformed into dolls by a magic spell, who must navigate a series of co-operative gameplay challenges to restore their relationship.
It Takes Two will be available digitally on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop from 15 October 2026 for $39.99, joining existing releases across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
