Indie publisher Acclaim and developer Valadria have announced that cozy retro-inspired power-washing simulator Pixel Washer will launch on Steam Early Access on 15 October 2026.
To celebrate the release date announcement, the publisher released an Early Access trailer showcasing new gameplay and grime-caked locations. Versions for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 are planned to follow in 2027.
Developed by California-based indie creator Matt Hackett under his studio Valadria, Pixel Washer puts players in control of Pigxel, a goggles-wearing pig tasked with restoring a grimy, pixelated town to its former glory. Armed with a pressure washer, players blast dirt off over 40 hand-crafted pixel art environments, ranging from pool tables and arcade cabinets to soccer fields and mammoth skeletons, all set to a relaxing soundtrack.
As players complete jobs throughout the town, they earn money to upgrade their equipment, unlocking more powerful blasters, specialized washers, and new vehicles.
Hackett expressed his excitement about partnering with Acclaim, noting that the publisher's involvement has allowed him to expand the scope of the project beyond what he could achieve independently. He described the title as a simple, satisfying experience designed to offer accessible, relaxing gameplay.
The 15 October launch marks the start of an ongoing Early Access roadmap for Pixel Washer. Valadria and Acclaim plan to expand the game with community-driven updates, new features, additional levels, and crossover content leading up to the 1.0 full release and subsequent console launches in 2027.
Originally founded in 1987 and known for publishing classic arcade and console franchises, the modern revival of Acclaim focuses on supporting independent game developers and bringing indie titles to global audiences.
A playable demo of Pixel Washer is available now on Steam, with the Early Access release scheduled for 15 October 2026.
