Acclaimed Western Australian strategy veterans Black Lab Games, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector and Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, have announced their new title, Survive ‘Til Dawn!. Blending fast-paced third-person action with tactical tower defence, dark humor, and post-apocalyptic mayhem, the game is set to launch on Steam in 2027.
In Survive ‘Til Dawn!, the world is cooked, mutants roam the wasteland, and humanity’s last hope rests on the Aegis—an anti-alien-spore machine that requires nightly recharge cycles to function. Unfortunately, this process leaves the machine vulnerable to ruthless hordes of mutants determined to tear it apart. Armed with a wrench, a boomstick, and salvaged scrap, players must construct and position outrageous defences before night falls.
Scavenged roadside junk can be turned into spinning spike traps, electric shock towers, volatile flame vents, and gas-powered turrets. When the traps inevitably prove insufficient against increasingly aggressive waves, players jump directly into third-person combat to personally eliminate surviving mutants and upgrade their arsenal. The fight for survival can be undertaken solo or alongside a friend via online co-op.
The title features a story-driven campaign across a wrecked wasteland, as well as a "Mutant Rush" mode offering escalating waves with drafted upgrades between rounds. For players seeking a less visceral experience, the game includes a family-friendly toggle that replaces over-the-top gore with balloon animals and silly sound effects.
"Survive ‘Til Dawn! combines deep strategy with action-packed presentation and an '80s B-movie attitude," says the Perth-based development team. With its blend of colorful characters, absurd death traps, and high-octane survival mechanics, Black Lab Games aims to deliver a fresh, humor-infused spin on the action-strategy genre. PC players can wishlist the title on Steam today ahead of its scheduled 2027 release.
