Starry Studio has officially released Isles of Abyss, the largest free expansion in Once Human history, now live across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and mobile platforms. The massive update trades dry land for a treacherous, living ocean dominated by a terrifying, sentient organism known as The Sunken Lord. Players must master modular shipbuilding and survive an interconnected three-layered loop spanning open waters, islands, and the seabed.

Isles of Abyss introduces five distinct hazard zones governed by a unique ecological system, forcing survivors to harvest regional anomalies to craft survival technology. Players must coordinate naval broadsides to destroy biomechanical Towers of Calamity and board wandering ghost ships to salvage rare blueprints. Naval warfare is powered by an expanded oceanic tech tree, allowing players to upgrade from canvas sails to electric propellers, mount heavy cannons, and build self-sustaining floating fortresses outfitted with generators, workbenches, and smelters.

The update brings a server-wide progression rhythm across a 21-day cycle. As communities purge anomalies and conquer regions, shared progress unlocks a climactic four-player co-op raid inside the beating heart of The Sunken Lord. Additionally, players can capture Duet, a weather-manipulating Deviant that alters wind direction, or take part in the "Halloween Meets the Abyss" festival featuring exclusive seasonal cosmetics and mutant pumpkin buffs.

Marking a major milestone, Once Human has also been announced as the first participating game for the UN-backed Green Game Jam 2027, an initiative facilitated by the United Nations Environment Programme and Playing for the Planet. Running through November 20, the in-game event "Mr. Wish's Driftpost" invites players to share real-life stories of community resilience, earning exclusive in-game rewards while inspiring environmental action across the global player base.
