NIS America has announced that the acclaimed action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA will officially land on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027. This upcoming release expands the reach of the beloved entry, introducing localized Spanish-language support to the game for the first time alongside its existing English and French options.
Developed by Nihon Falcom, the story follows series protagonist Adol Christin after he awakens shipwrecked on a mysterious, cursed island. To survive and find a way home, Adol must gather his fellow stranded passengers to establish a functioning village hub, where rescued castaways provide essential services and upgrades. As the expedition unfolds, Adol experiences vivid dreams of Dana, an enigmatic blue-haired maiden whose destiny is deeply intertwined with the island’s ancient secrets.
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition takes full advantage of updated hardware capabilities to enhance the high-speed action JRPG experience. Players can expect fluid performance of up to 120 FPS during fast-paced combat, where party members can be swapped on-the-fly to counter hostile creatures. The game also features dual gameplay perspectives, allowing players to control Dana in dedicated story segments that shed light on the island's overarching mystery. Additionally, the release incorporates co-op functionality via GameShare, enabling two players to team up locally and navigate the adventure together.
Featuring both English and Japanese voiceovers, this expanded release brings the classic adventure to a brand-new hardware ecosystem with improved technical performance and wider language accessibility.
