Celebrate four decades of Tetris with Tetris Forever

In the 40 years since its creation in 1984 by a puzzle-loving computer programmer in the Soviet Union, the Tetris® game has taken over the world—and it's never slowed down. Often found topping the lists of the best games ever created, over 220 official Tetris games have been released and the game has inspired a feature film, esports tournaments, and more. Four decades later, it's the game that hundreds of millions of players still can't put down.

Earlier this week, acclaimed retro gaming studio Digital Eclipse, in partnership with The Tetris Company, announced the launch of Tetris Forever, the latest entry in the studio’s acclaimed Gold Master Series. It's a love letter to the Tetris game, to its global, multigenerational fan base, and to the amazing history behind its rise to the top.

Available now on PC and console, Tetris Forever showcases the history of Tetris across five interactive timelines that combine playable games, video featurettes, and digital artifacts.



Extensive interviews with Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov, The Tetris Company founder Henk Rogers, Tetris CEO Maya Rogers, and more key players in the Tetris story trace its evolution from a small, single-programmer effort to one of the world's most recognized gaming franchises.

As you journey through the timelines of Tetris history, you'll encounter more than 15 playable games. Begin with Digital Eclipse's detailed recreation of Alexey Pajitnov's original version of Tetris for the Electronika 60 computer, experience the first commercial version of Tetris released by Spectrum Holobyte for IBM computers, battle your friends in the multiplayer cult favorite Tetris Battle Gaiden, and more.

Once you've discovered how Tetris was created – and how it broke out of Soviet Russia onto the world stage – you can experience the history in playable form with Tetris Time Warp, an all-new game from Digital Eclipse in which players battle through different "eras" of Tetris, jumping back and forth between gameplay styles to become the undisputed time-traveling Tetris master.
